About Us
Louisiana State Animal Response Team (LSART) is an organization of groups and individuals with an interest in animal well-being related to emergencies or disasters. This includes governmental agencies, veterinarians, animal control officers, humane organizations, and citizen volunteers.
LSART works as a volunteer partner with guidance from the Louisiana Department of Agriculture & Forestry (LDAF) in Louisiana’s emergency planning structure.
LSART DOES NOT NEED NEW VOLUNTEERS AT THIS TIME. PLEASE CHECK BACK AFTER OUR POST-STORM ASSESSMENT.
The primary objective of LSART is to organize and facilitate the four phases of emergency preparedness that affect animals in disaster. The four phases are Preparedness, Response, Recovery and Mitigation.
LSART is organized into Regional Animal Response Teams -- RARTs .
